Tim Carroll, highly respected and influential Avid audio chief, has left his role of VP Audio Products after more than 20 years at the company.
An ever-present driving force and guiding hand in Avid’s success in audio and the ubiquity of Pro Tools as an industry tool over the past decade, Carroll spearheaded Avid’s innovative and category-defining introduction of the S6 control surface and acceptance of in-the-box mixing. Tim leaves to join legendary UK-based audio manufacturer Focusrite PLC as Chief Executive Officer.
Outgoing Focusrite CEO Dave Froker, himself a former General Manager of Avid’s Audio business until 2002, announced his retirement earlier in 2016 with a view to announcing his successor towards the end of the calendar year. In his tenure as Focusrite CEO, Froker doubled the company in size and took it public.
Commenting on the appointment, Executive Chairman Phil Dudderidge said:
“I have known Tim for many years and my colleagues and I are delighted to welcome him to Focusrite Plc. Tim comes to us with 18 years Audio Industry experience and is a widely respected figure in the music technology business. His mix of industry knowledge and senior management and sales experience made him the outstanding candidate and we are so pleased he has agreed to join our company. We very much look forward to his leadership in the execution of our strategic growth ambitions.
Commenting on his appointment, Tim Carroll said:
“It will be a privilege and honour to be joining Focusrite Plc as Chief Executive. The Focusrite team has a tremendous passion for providing state of the art solutions for musicians and audio engineers and I share that vision”
Resurface wishes Tim every success in his new role, and offers our congratulations and best wishes to Dave in his retirement.
